Q on Epicrates subflavus babies

RonW Jul 27, 2004 09:12 AM

My female just produced a nice litter of babies. They shed straight away (abut 1 week ago) and now I want to start feeding them. Now I am not quite sure how to start them. With striatus babies I had to force/assist feed until they took pinks on their own. Are subflavus similar or are they easier? Any tricks that work with them? I have experience with difficult feeders but it is real hard to find info on this particular species and I would like to know all I can before I start trying to get them to feed.
thanks
Ron

The babies are almost exclusively lizard feeders in the wild in jamaica. Their environment is chalk full of skinks and anoles.

You can get them on pinks, but you might want to give serious thought to scenting the pinks with lizard juice.

Keep them in separate shoe boxes and try pinks and then try scented pinks and then think about lizards if necessary.

Eventually you should be able to train them over to rodents.
