Misting tank.

Do any of you guys mist your tanks or enclosures with water? I've heard of people doing this in order to get the humidity up in their tanks (though I'm not sure how effective this is) but I was wondering if there was any other benefits? Do retics actually enjoy this or benefit in any other way?

Misting the cages will greatly increase the humidity levels in a cage. Think about when you get a summer shower then the sun comes out and it get very humid out. Same way in a snakes cage you spray the cage and with the high temps causes the water to evaporate creatig more humidity.
Also when a retic is sprayed it will drink some of the water as it runs down its face. My retics will even drink the water off the walls. So it helps in keeping the animals hydrated.
I use a garden sprayer on my smaller cages and the water house with a mising nozzle on the big cages.

Misting does greatly increase the humidity.

It can also help to stimulate breeding when a female is introduced to a male. I mist mine down with a misting bottle twice a day.

Hi...
I have a misting system set up in all my cages that sprays 4 times a day. This helps with the humdity and the snakes realy dig it. I don't know if you ever had a snakes with a bad shed before this will stop it all together. It also depends of what substrate you are using, mulch holds alot of moisture and does not need to be sprayed as much. I keep all my snakes on paper so that's why I spray them so often.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses. You guys have convinced me and I'm going to mist my tank once a day and see how my retic reacts to it.
