Shedding Problem (Snake Lost Tail Tip)

bxherp Jun 22, 2003 05:46 PM

Hey everyone...Yesterday I bought a very beautiful Sinoloan Milk Snake (yes I know this is the corn snake forum). The second I saw it I fell in love with it. I was allowed to hold it and when I did I noticed it shedded recently. Unfortunately it didn't shed the tip of its tail. Thinking that it shedded within a day or so I took it home and placed it in a pillow case with damp paper towel to loosen the skin. However, it was too late the snake had lost the tip of its tail. Although it is very small and hardly noticeable cosmetic problem should I return the snake to the store (its under warranty for 7 days). ITs such a pretty snake that it would be hard to part from it, but I don't want a snake that is going to get stressed out and possibly die in matter of of a few days. Will that tip grow back? How long does it take before the tip heals? Please give me your adivce...Thanks...ELvy

The tip will not grow back, but it will heal over and you probably won't notice it. Just dab a little neosporin on it and it will be fine. If you want to return the snake over it, it's up to you.
