every time i go to feed my snake or hanle him he buzzez his tail at me. i dont know why but once a kid got into his cage and he bit the kid. i suspect that the kid handled him wrong, and thats why hes so uncomfortable with people.

snakes do not bite because they were handled wrong..they bite because a HUGE predator is trying to "get" them and they are frightened and trying to defend themselves. Once they "learn" that this frightful creature trying to pick them up is not going to eat or harm them they will eventually calm down. The key is CALM..pick them up from their height..try not to reach over top of them.. and handle gently...they should come around.
But there are some that are just plain ornery. Good Luck

our blizzard, whom we affectionately call Grumpy , has a "love-hate" relationship with my hubby and will almost always rattles and strike at him when he is attempting to handle him. Once he is in his hands, he does great! We have worked on different methods and it seems that we are making slow progress. He acts like he is being threatened, since this is a natural defense for Grumpy, we will keep working with him.

We completely remove him from his cage, into a clear flat lidded tub, no bark at all, and we feed him there so he doesn't associated his enclosure and the bark, at feeding time. It seems to be working but we're still careful. Overall, I have a sneaky feeling that he is just one of those onry cusses and will be like this for the most part!! LOL Even though our local reptile store used him for exhibits for children and had no problem, I'm still convinced he's a grumpy ol' soul! LOL

Hi. I was wondering does your snake have a hide. This one thing really helps a snake feel more comfortable and should help with the bitting problem.
