Wax worms

Sassy76 Jul 27, 2004 02:23 PM

My Gecko was't eating the crickets i gave her, but i threw three wax worms in there and she gobbled them right up!! Now I have heard they have no nutrients, but will it harm her to get them every once in awhile as a treat?? I haven't gotten any mealworms yet but am going to!! But she was scaring me by not eating and now I feel better that she has a few wax worms in her belly!!

Waxies are fine on occasion, but stick with mealies and crix for a staple diet. What sometimes happens though is they REALLY love the waxies, so when you offer them some boring old crickets or mealworms, they wont eat them and wait til you cave in and give them waxies, you woulnt think an animal would be so picky about food, but I guess so. Sounds though like hes just tired of the crix, so try some mealworms. Good luck,
Mac
