males generally breed at a minimum of 6-8 ft, and and females I think are sexually mature at 8 ft or so, but this would probably be pretty tough on one that doesnt have pretty good girth to her as well.

Then they should be breedable in around a year, right?

well, they can reach breeding size within a year. I think that 18 months is the earliest age that they generally breed. As far as I know. I think it would be pretty tough on a yearling female to breed her. But I think they also have to get a little age underneath them also. Im not really experienced in breeding, yet. Im workin on that now. But I think the age plays a part in there too.

Unless you are counting how long it takes to get a burm to breeding size. Its ALL about size with them. A male will breed readily at 8 feet with size not being all that important. A female *can* breed at 8 feet but double digits (12 or so) is the only safe size. Weight in females is just as important but not important in males. In short, 8 foot male, 12 foot 75 pound female is where you want to start.
