Veiled Chameleon Mating Problems...

chamellio Jul 27, 2004 05:49 PM

im trying to breed my veiled chameleons and im having a minor problem.. my young male is inexperienced in this and when i place my female in the tank he goes to mount her but just has no clue what to do, i was told captive bred chams often get it too easy sometimes and start to get lazy, and was told to show him my other male to encourage him to perk up a bit.
This hasnt worked and im wondering if anyone has any ideas on how i could encourage him to do his job...im trying to mate them every 2 days cos i dont wanna wear either of em out.. not that they are getting worn out cos he has no clue.. thanks in advance for any ideas and will keep you all posted on how the mating goes.

ok i really am stumped now... both of my females are receptive one will tolerate him to mount her but hes got no ****ing clue on what to do, the other will not let him go a meter near her even though shes receptive and showing no gravidity colouration damnit maybe i was lucky but my last successful breeding took only 1 time for her to get gravid and it was all done, admitedlyhe was a proper stud and had been the father of many chameleons before so on a serious note has anyone got any other ideas cos im coming up clueless now!.
