mizar 21 Jul 27, 2004 06:28 PM

I post down below a question about the size of enclosure that most people on this site use...and i havent had any answer...so do you all have your iguana free roaming ? Or is the question a delicate subject ?

No, it's not a taboo question. Maybe your post just got overlooked amongst some of the more "hot button" topics that have been posted here lately?

Don't get discouraged here if your posts don't get answered immediately. Sometimes it takes several days. If you need immediate answers to your questions, check anapsid.org, greenigsociety.org & iguanaden.com. All of them should be able to tell you what the minimum size for an enclosure is.

I keep Walter Anne (my 11 year old iguana) in a 55in. wide x 75in. long x 80 in. tall cage. All 4 sides are plexiglass. The top is screen. The bottom is melamine (I think). And it is plenty big. Hope that helps.

Take a look at some of the posts on here about the enclosures people have built. Lyn's home for Norbert & Alika's home for Xander are two great examples.

Tell me about it! We rescued Grass from abandonment & certain death, and had about oh, two hours to prepare for her before she came home with us. And we knew *nothing* about igs to start with!

But we've got a big fat happy contented ig now, and it's all thanks to these folks here and to the wonderful authors of the Anapsid, IguanaDen & GreenIgSociety pages.

Oops, I must have missed it, I've been here and gone alot this summer. Tempest's cage is 5.5' wide, 7' tall and 4.5' deep - the bottom two feet he doesn't have access to, its storage and houses the wiring for everything. Free roaming isn't an option in my house, as I also have 4 dogs and a cat, but he does come out quite often when the rest of the horde is out.
