Paul, want your thoughts on this...

wanted to touch up on Jaguar genetics.. I read your post made sense to me.. however It only takes one male Jaguar and a WT/Normal Female to produce the 50/50 ratio. None of the proposed "hets" have been bred back to a True Jaguar, nor have the proposed "hets" been bred together
What do you think makes that work?
And the original Jaguar has produced, Jaguars, Hypo Jaguars, Red Hypo Jaguars, and the greatest, a Banana Jaguar..

Plus, the normal siblings from the "Hypo" Jaguar to unrelated female, look nothing like their mother or father, but maybe a little bit of both, the bright yellow banding from the father, and the pattern from the mother. Seems like I read somewhere that Co-Dominant hets don't look like either of the parents... I have one that is extremely nice, not yellow though, but red in the banding I will post some pics,

Many thanks for your Time!!!

Perhaps if we start at the beginning and all work together we could figure it out. When you say about the hypo and hypo red we will be talking about a pattern abberation AND a pigment (perhaps several) abberation. Correct?

How much is known of the origin of the Jaguar? Following are questions we should answer as best we can first:
Is there only one original source of the Jaguar, or has it occured more than once in separate bloodlines?

If there is only one, lets call it J1, if there are others they will become J2, etc.

What do we know about J1's siblings?
What do we know about J1's parents?
What do we know about J1's grandparents?
What do we know about J1's siblings offspring?
What do we know About J1's first generation offspring?
Subsequent generations?
What do we know about J1's grand children?
Any other potentially useful facts?

If we can answer the right combination of questions we should be able to reliably predict this and next years offspring. This actually sounds like it could be alot of fun! Who is in? Who wants to donate some info?

I'll answer with the common knowledge info.

*What do we know about J1's siblings? *
He was the only one out of the clutch with the Jaguar markings.

*What do we know about J1's parents? *
Both were seemingly normal, unrelated coastals.

*What do we know About J1's first generation offspring?*
1 out of 4 surviving hatchlings had the same markings/color as the sire.

*Subsequent generations?*
Following year(2000), half of his hatchlings were Jaguars. Among those, 3 of the hatchlings were hypo, 2 were red hypo, and one was completely patternless (banana).

*What do we know about J1's grand children?*
Breedings are being done this year.
