I am a new bp owner and i have read many books and caresheets on the species and I just wanted your opinion if should use an enclosure that is longer or higher for my bp. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading!

Longer is definitely better than higher. With ball pythons, the floor space of a cage is the most important factor, not height. Most breeders keep their ball pythons in rack systems which are only about 6"-8" high... this is because height is not all that important.
