beardie threw up?

snakemanmatt30 Jul 27, 2004 06:37 PM

We just bought a pair of 2 month old dragons from a show. They are in a homemade cage with a 3 foot 5.0 bulb and a basking bulb at one end. The temps. are 100 degrees at one end and 85 at the other. The cage is 3.5 ft long and 2.5 ft high and 2 ft deep. They are appearing completely healthy and very active but they eat only 3 or 4 crickets and a couple bites of greens each feeding. (twice a day). We also give them very small superworms that are white after losing ther shell. Anyway the male after turning the lights on this morning puked up some worms, I dont know if they did not digest or what, but he appears very active and ate a few crickets at dinner. Does anyone know why a dragon might puke. Thanks Matt (we also use cacium once a day and vitamins every other day)

WAs the food partially digested or whole? If it was partially digested it could be from parasites.

It looked like they were broken in pieces, but whole pieces.

I would not feed supers until they are at least 12" and then only as a treat. feeding the white ones as you do, does help. no mealies and no wax. your basking temps need to be higher. 110-115F to digest food, especially worms. you are lucky they did not get impacted and die. also they should have at least 2 hours of heat after their last meal of the day.

Thank You. We will try that. We will get rid of worms and just do crickets. We will also get that temp up. Should we notice a differnce tomorrow if this was the problem?

it can take a few days to clear out. hydration is very important. good luck
