Another food Q...How about tomatoes?...

Rick Jul 27, 2004 09:34 PM

My chucks are anything BUT picky eaters. Maybe because they don't get fed every day and have to compete for what little I do feed them, LOL!

My question is, are tomatoes okay for them to have? There are hundreds of little grape tomatoes growing in my back yard. Birds must have gotten them from a neighbor's garden last year. For some reason they are all growing under the telephone lines, hmmmm?

Is there some list of DO NOT FEED items somewhere?

Thanks,
Rick

I;ve heard the citric acid in them destroys the gut microbes in the stomach which would be bad for digestion.

Don;t know if its true but I don;t feed my Ctenosaura tomatoes to be on the safe side.

Check Mellissa kaplans site - I think she has some herbivore food lists there.

NUTRITION CONTENT

It will list all veggies and fruits , in alphabetical order, tell content, how safe, so forth, she did an excellent job!

Oh and tomatoes are listed!
