shedding issues

caliherper Jul 28, 2004 01:38 AM

My scarlet king is shedding, and it seems to be taking a while. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to help her along? She is fairly young, only about 12 inches or so. Only her head has shed!

Thanks.

By the way, I did put a damp wash cloth in her tank...not sure if she will do anything with it, but I thought it might add some moisture to the air.

Should I mist the cage? And is it okay to feed them while they are shedding? (sorry I'm new at this)

Thanks for any help!

Place wet paper towels in a plastic shoe box--enough to cover the bottom and scrunched enough to forms hills and valleys for her to slither around. Put her in there for about an hour in a warm place, and see if that loosens her shed. Often when I do this with one of my snakes, the shed will slide right off when I take the animal out of the box. Just a suggestion--good luck!

Thanks! I'll try that.
