Breeding Spiloted

nortz Jul 28, 2004 07:08 AM

I've seen many short references to Spilotes (tiger ratsnakes), but nothing exhaustive has shown up in web searches. I am planning to order a pair thru the pet store with the intent of breeding. They are awsome in color as well as size.
Since New York State is banning all members of the boidae family, people who like large snakes will have few choices. Any sugestions on web sites, or people to email? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Terry

There are a few people on this forum that have successfully bred Spilotes. Try a search on this forum and see what turns up. You can then contact those folks by email and see if they can help.

New York is banning ALL boids? Even Rosy Boas, Green Treen Pythons and other smaller forms? How ignorant is that? HSUS and PETA at work again.....

I pair my animals in the fall and reduce lighting from 16 hours to 8 and cool them for three months at 68 degrees.I get eggs in May. The eggs hatch in July. I incubate at 82 degrees and they take 65 days to hatch. I leave a basking sight that goes on an 8 hour light cycle but when off coolds to 68 degrees.
