Question about my Brooksi eggs...

CanopicJar Jul 28, 2004 08:40 AM

I have a clutch of nine brooksi eggs which were laid on June 28th. I have had them incubating at around 82.5 degrees. We are leaving to go on vacation on August 14th through the 22nd. Should I cut the temp down some to make sure they dont hatch while we are gone? This is our first ever clutch and my sons and I would really like to be there to watch the hatching process.

Also, we are going to be vacationing between Panama City and Destin Florida. Where is a good place to find some local snakes? Not wanting to catch any, just to find some for the boys to see and to get some pics.

Thanks,
Travis

I have had three clutches (this yr) hatch around the 6 week date (42 days).

What temperature do you incubate the eggs at?

I have read about people doing this - but supposedly the babies are smaller. Is that your experience?

I don't use an incubator. I just stick them in the garage where its 90f during the day and 80f at night. I have noticed small babies from young females (2 yr olds) otherwise the babies have been large (from older females) and medium from young 3 yr olds.

I dont know, I'm on my first clutch now and im fighting to keep the temp at about exactly 80 and almost have a heart attack when i see it go up to 86. i dont know what to do...
