Humid Hide

Sassy76 Jul 28, 2004 11:38 AM

I read up on Geckos before I got mine and read about the humid hide. Well I had some moss from a previous reptile that I had never used so i wetted it down and put it in a butter dish and cut a hole in the side and put it on the warm side of the tank, well I have never seen her in it. Is this something that they have to have in their tank or what?? Maybe she don't like the moss if so what else can i use??

Hey,

A humid hide is a must-have for Leopard geckos(Especially during their shed), it helps in the process of removing old skin that may be tricky to shed on their toes and tail. If you think your gecko just doesn't care for the moss you can use moist paper towel, or even misted vermiculite. Most people tend to use moist paper towel and use misted vermiculite as an egg-laying medium. Good luck.
