Extremely hungry and constantly shedding?

nickoleye Jul 28, 2004 12:09 PM

My dragon's about 2 years old now I would guess. For the last month she's been shedding constantly, some places are on their 2nd or third time shedding in the last few weeks. Her appetite has also increased immensley! She used to eat about 2 dozen crix every other day and her veggies daily. Now I can't keep her full. I can buy 3 dozen crix in a day and she'll eat them within 5 minutes along with some veggies. She's still really active and acts normal, but is this normal behavior?

Sounds like a growth spurt to me. Now if it was eating constantly but not shedding & growing, then I would be concerned.

Just make sure there is plenty of greens available. If it is eating a lot, make it healthy food & not a bunch of junk food. If not, you'll wind up with an obese dragon. lol

Also, watch for signs of eggs. A two year old female dragon that has a sudden increase in appitite could be making eggs. Yes, they do lay eggs even if there is no male to fertilize them. Watch for frantic digging or other changes in behavior. If you see this then please retun for info on making a laying bin.

With the shedding though it could just be a late growth spurt.

Just kidding. I didn't even think about that but that could very well be possible.
