Question re: shedding

happycrook Jul 28, 2004 01:41 PM

With an adult corn, how often do they shed? He eats twice a week, as do our other 2 corns and our king.

Thanks for bearing with me and all my "freshman owner" questions I come up with.

Younger snakes often are fed once every 3-5 days but once adult hood is reached one appropriate sized rodent every 7-10 days is the general rule. Over feeding may lead to some health problems over time. As far as a sheding cycle it all depends on the growth of the snake. Most fully grown adults will shed maybe 4 times a year and some even less. Like I said depends on the snakes growth.

If your adult corn is eatting two adult mice twice a week maybe you should increase the size of the prey item rather then feeding it twice a week. Maybe a weanling rat would be a better meal.
