I could be wrong, but I don't think they are meant to be replaced. If it happened to mine, I would replace the whole thing.

I have had mine apart it is not just a simple replacement, you would have to solder a new one on onto the board. Not too bad if you are use to soldering small wires. I would see if Helix would sell you another probe then see if you can wire it on. You could also make your own if you find out what temperature sensor they are using. I'm pretty sure they are using a standard thermistor but you would have to ask them to make sure.

Actually the only part left from the probe is the actual tip that senses the temperature. The wire between the unit and the sensor is done for. Maybe I could use a different wire for it. I just don't know if it will work as well as it did before.
You could try replacing the wire but it all depends on the quality of the wire and solder joint. If they are using a thermistor any additional resistance in the line will throw off the calibration. You could always try replacing with same length and diameter copper wire and see if the temperatures match a standard thermometer. Use a thermostat with a remote probe and tape the two probes together so they should read the same temperature or - a degree or two (most thermometers have a couple degree tolerance especially ones using thermistors) then try and run it through a variety of different temperatures and see if they always stay close. I would suggest using a standard 75 or 100 Watt light bulb and start with the probes positioned a few inches away, wait for the Helix and Thermostat to stabilize in temp see what the readings are then move the probes a little farther away and do the same thing. Since the Helix always display the current temperature this would be the easiest way test.

Give them a call. I had a great response from them by phone when I received a DBS-1000 that wouldn't come off an error reading on start up. Here's their web site with contact information.

They stand by their products and might be able to do the repairs for you.
A fox huh? They might help you out just for the interesting testimonial

This is the little guy checking out my new arrivals. I don't know what he is thinking but he has to check out all my new snakes or he goes nuts.

OMG!! What a cutie! PLEASE give me more info on him, breed, age, how does he get along with your other animals (if you have dogs or cats or something)? WOW! BEAUTIFUL! I LOVE the dark legs and that beautiful face! AWESOME! Congrats on having such a wonderful creature!

He is a red fox. And he is really fuzzy in that pic since he just got a bath. He gets along ok with my dog they are both scared of each other, but when my dog gets to close the fox shows him who is boss. I also have never had a problem with escaped mice as he makes sure to "take care of them" as soon as they get out. Don't get a fox unless you are crazy. Trust me!!! These guys are nuts and not to mention nocturnal and they are very active little guys. The plus is they are so friggin smart it is crazy.
Yeah I hear what you are saying about having to be crazy to own one... actually she sounds alot like my dog! LOL My boyfriend's roomate has a racoon she has been taking care of and that thing is NUTS ... it can get into ANYTHING and he does! LOL he is a little stinker for sure... and he hates his cage. I don't know much about Fox's as far as keeping one, so I would have to do ALOT of research before I even thought about getting one, but MAN is she BEAUTIFUL! When I showed that pic to my boyfriend, he said "How much do those cost?!" LOL It was cute... I think he might be over his "I want a skunk!" phase... I like the skunks, but I am hell bent on sugar gliders when I CAN get more animals... but I will definitly look into one of those too.. I can never have enough animals! Do you have any good research sites? Or do you know the scientific name? Thanks for sharing! She is AWESOME!

Just call Helix and arrange to ship it in for repair. I have done so several times, usually when I do something stupid like put a staple throught it, and Jeff just puts a new probe on for $10 or so. Kevin
