White Spot

blueyedtreefrog Jul 28, 2004 03:51 PM

My White's has a white spot on his nose. I think it is from him attempting to escape. He likes to sit right up against the screen lid on the top of his cage and I think that it is irritating his skin. Is it true I can treat him with Neosporin or should I take him right to the vet?

I also plan on making the tank he's in now a hospital tank until he is better and I clean and decorate his new tank.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I've heard that sometimes they can get sores on their noses from bumping into the glass. If you aren't using a backround you may want to start using one. Neosporin works on small cuts and wounds but if you're not sure what is on his nose you may want to bring him to a vet to have it checked out.

I am going to take your advice and go to a vet. Luckily I found one in my area that is relatively cheap. Well, it's half the price of every other place I found and is closer as well.

My question is what should I use to transport him. The Vet's office is a good 45 min. away from my house and I would like to stress him as little as possible. I have a little plastic animal carrier that I could use, and I think that would be better than how the pet store told me to transport him (In a plastic bag with a little water).

When you say use a backround? I'm assuming that's on the inside of the cage? Like, should I line it with plastic plants? I need some ideas...

Thanks for your help.

Thanks!

When transporting him a plastic animal carrier with some eco earth or moss would be work. When I move my frogs by vehicle I always put a towel over them because they become less stressed. For tank backrounds I try to find forest like ones and I tape them to the back of the tank just like it were a fish aquarium. Inside my tank I have some of the ceramic or plastic logs, vines and mosses. I'm going to try growing pothos for live plants but fake ones work as well. Hope this helped.
