Cage Sizes

Syd Jul 28, 2004 05:29 PM

Can someone give me the appropriate cage size for an adult beardie? Is 4' left to right enough room? I realize that bigger is always better. However, would you provide 18" front to back or 24"? Basically what is the smallest cage size that you can keep an adult in without overheating him/her. Also, what type of cage is the most effective i.e. Vision cage, fish tank of appropriate size, or home made cage? Thanks in advance.

Depends on the adult size of your dragon. Some dragons stay small at adult size and would be fine in a 40 breeder. (36" x 18" x 16" i think).

We use cages that are 48" x 24" x 16" for all subadult to adult dragons. The lower height makes the UVB more practical and helps stack cages in smaller areas.

We build our cages out of melamine but people here use Vision cages and are very happy with them. I personally don't like them for dragons but it works well for some people.
