Question for Christyj

If I brought the gecko home, do they carry and kind of diseases that are airborn, could I bring him home, and keep him in another room?? I think she had a fecal done, she said, the vet said he was just VERY under weight, and needed hydrated for him to have any chance...but she can't get him to eat, she said, he'll eat like one cricket here and there. I think the only reason She got him was because she just thought the kid wasn;t feeding him right, he is a cute thing, but I know nothing about gecko's, well I know how to feed them and take care of them, we have 4 but we got them as babies, and have never had a problem with them, so I don't know anything about a sick one..
I could keep him, and take him to the vet in indy, and handfeed him.

I'm not a Gecko expert either. I assume if it had parasites you would have to use the same precautions as with a beardie. As far as airborn diseases, I doubt it. If you do bring it home, just make sure you do regular handwashing in between handlings, as usuual.
Do you have any parazap? It will increase the gecko's appetite.
I would try hydrating it with pedialyte (via syringe) and try using the "bug juice" recipe to fatten him up.
The bug juice is basicaly (this is gross...lol) crickets/worms, pedialyte, vitamins in a blender.
It sounds like it would have a better chance with you..

Best thing to do is post your problem on the Gecko forum. Should be able to get plenty of advice from other gecko owners there.
