How small is the smallest egg you've ever seen produce a healthy snake?

kingofrain21 Jul 28, 2004 09:25 PM

this year my female laid a clutch of eggs with quite a range of varying size.... about 4 of the eggs were m&m sized and obviously not going to make it; they were green and moldy in the first week, however the first little bugger to pip his nose out is coming out of an egg that is probably not much bigger than a malted milk ball. the egg is pretty small and more round than most of the other eggs... i have a few eggs like this and they have lasted the full term of incubation and look healthy aside from their smaller size. what's the deal with all of your experiences with smaller eggs? btw, the anery that is pippin out looks to be normal size based on the snout, but hasn't come all the way out to play for me to know if the body is normal size.
thanks for the input

I have had small eggs myself but the young are much smaller than the others when they do hatch. However if they are too small you may have to cut the pinkies so that they can eat.

I have had 1 survive last breeding seaon and is only catching up now to the others.
