should i put the hiding place on top of the heating mat?

im a new ball owner and ive set up the tank should i put the hiding place on top of the heating pad? what source of heat is good for the night/day? i have a lamp and a pad should i use both?

You really dont need the light.
Its best to have two hides.One for the hot side and one for the cool side.
Just in case he is so shy.. that he would stay in there even if it is too hot for him.(Might burn his belly).

Put the water in the middle

The best way to check on the temperature under his "hot hide"
would be either by using a thermostat with a probe,or a temperature gun(better really).
Temp guns are so cheap now it really is the best way...

Got a thermostat yet ?

A "thermostat" is used to control the heat pad...
