You knew it was going to happen sooner or later. I know alot of you do not like morphs, but me personally, I like some. In this case, I like this morph. It looked very intriguing black with siverish-white markings. macro
Wow! For $6k you'd think they could tell you the sex of the snake.
Well I guess we're all just a few short years away from a ball python like morph frenzy.
I myself am not against naturally occuring morphs. What bugs me, however, is that most of the morphers are into it just for the money. They had no interest in ball pythons (or another morphed snake) till they could afford one of the new morph fads. I personally think you should truely want a certain species before getting one and to not get an animal just because the babies will bring you money. Without the passion for a certain species the animal will always suffer. This is not the case with everyone who has morphs but it seems to be a growing segment.
We wont even start on hybrids!
I do agree with the ad that a snow conda would be a stunning looking animal.
I'll be moving tomorrow (Fri. morning) and depending on the cable guy I may not be on for a few days. So till next time......lol
My 2 cents

In case that was a little direction toward me in any way...Ball pythons are what got me into the snake collection (as with many people) anacondas have always been my favorite snakes. I think that anacondas will never be as big as ball pythons because they are so much bigger than ball pythons. Make sense? There is no demand for anacondas due to the many people having problems with how agressive they think they are and how big they get. I hope they never get into a fad or this hobby could be ruined. In my opinion 6k is way too much but I honestly wish they wanted more because that would discourage the industry more and I hope people dont think they will be able to make money off these like they do with pythons...the burmese could have killed this hobby with all the morphs..just think if everyone had anacondas that knew little about them. I was hoping they would stay untouched as well. I like my granite yellows but I told Mark when I purchased them I saw little in investment but I just thought they were awesome. Sure I will make hets and breed them some day...but they will be little more than nice normal yellows and will not have a big booming demand like a spider ball. Just my 2 cents. As far as my new Ball python...makes no sense to breed normals they would not even pay for the upkeep with a 5 egg clutch of 30$ babies.
Im not 100% sure why you are all against the morphs in the annies, Even if they do come out they will be very high priced and most normal people don't want an anaconda, those media morons have scared them away from them, with the tales of man eating anacondas and those two movies. The only problem would be if a DWARF annie was found then annie's would be just like the retics, the minute the tiger's (both super and normal) were brought out everyone had a rekindled interest in these snakes, and now look at the market, very calm nice snakes....Just too bad a few people mess it up for the rest of us.
That Axanthic Looks really nice, he should just hold it until albinos come out and then own the market.
It looks awesome...incredible...the problem is it will add to people buying anacondas. We already have more bans going up and we don't think anacondas need to be in as many homes as burms and retics. Big snakes do not need to be all over the place...they have a home with dedicated people. I am not against the axanthics at all...I am a little scared.
Personally, I wouldn't be too afraid of the annie market growing rapidly for a number of years yet, there is still a lot to be learned about them, and a lot of people have images of that giant snake swimming in the amazon attacking people. With the media the way it is don't worry too much, unless someone happens to find an ALBINO then the market will go up, and if the albino is bred to the Axanthic then be afraid be very afraid (if of course a snow is produced). It will be just like the BURMESE market, every body wanted them just no body realize the HUGE sizes they can achieve. I don't think that Axanthic annie will sell to just anyone, Hopefully a good breeder with a lot of time, knowledge and patience will buy it. Just be thankful that the time for the annie market to grow is a number of years away.
Also, I would just like to say to every person that owns anaconds, I have a huge amount of respect for you all, These snake's are a huge responsibility, with the requirements, etc. If I had more time, money and more knowledge id persue buying a male green as a pet.
Albino and het albino next year or year after was advertised...this raised more scare than axanthic..just the fact the axanthics exist make this feel more real. That was exactly what I was talking about...we dont need the numbers the burmese have with the anacondas. The movie will make people think they are cool rather than scare them..it will be all the missing toothed rednecks who want to have a big anaconda to make up for bad bedroom skills. Sorry if this offends anyone : )
THought it said IF ALBINO'S are produced not when.
Some of you guys are silly with your worries about the Conda market blowing up and everyone owning them, like the burms. The market will never get big for many reasons. Besides the size and concived attitude problems of condas, Breeding is an issue. For the market to blow up some one would really have to come up with some good breeding methods. I'm not claiming to be very knowlageable about breeding condas, but what i've read it isn't no where as easy as breeding the big pythons. From what i've seen most females are in the 6 years of age. Plus neonates aren't as easy to get feeding, plus litters are smaller.
So I don't think there will ever be a huge market like we see with other spieces. So relax and enjoy some of the veriety that nature has to offer.
