Out of 4 egg clutch, 3 out of eggs, 1 still in

HerperHelmz Jul 29, 2004 12:43 PM

As of now.
I took the 2 eggs that were stuck together and put them in a small cup, one of those ringnecks was half way out, it stayed there until over night and then it came out. The egg it was attached to just started pipping this morning. Since there were so many eggs in my incubator I couldn't tell what eggs belonged to what clutch, so I couldn't move their sibling to another container before it hatched. Well I looked in the incubator to see another shriveled up egg near the moss, it took a while to find this one, but I did. He was the calmest out of all of them, lol and he didn't musk me.

We have got to get some prairies or even better regals. I would just love that. If I ever see one or more for sale at a show, I will grab as many as I can. I will send you some if you will pay me. I saw one about a year ago, and i knew nothing about ringneck species so I did not get it. Sure wish I would have, but then again It was probably best I fif not because I would not be able to care for it back then.

I don't think you'd be able to take care of a regal right now, you said it yourself, you haven't found any snakes or lizards recently, that's all that regals will eat. I'd even take a neonate regal right now(which I might have 1 coming my way soon) I'm not a fan of prairie ringnecks, plus I can get some if I wanted them, too small though.

Yea. reason I said prairie is because the color. They are bigger than northern if my memory serves me correctly.

It all depends on what locality the snakes you are comparing came from. In my experience with northerns, they average about 12 to 18 inches long. Prairies on the other hand will rarely get to even 14 inches long. Prairies are more colorful than northerns, but I'd never keep them because of their small size.

I messed up on typing. I meant to say " It hought they were one of the BIG kinds of ringnecks. you know, bigger than northerns or southerns I have not done much research on prairies so that was based on absolutley nothing.

Is that the complete sub-species list of ringneck ? Good job. Hope someday I can collect all of them.

HerperHelmz Jul 30, 2004 05:08 PM

lol ya know, I set out to do the same thing, it isn't going too well. I'm about 70% sure that Key Ringneck Snakes(D.p.acricus) is endangered or protected where it is found. That list is of the sub-species that occur in the United States.
