James
it depends on the place. Most of the local shops in my cuty will buy from the public, it just depends on the owners feeling towards the issue.

I'll call around tomorrow.
They probably have a better chance of getting a healthier leo from me then if they are buying from a major distributor that cares more about quantity rather than quality.
James
It depends on the pet store, you'd have to phone around and ask. I know of several pet stores that get their geckos from their customers.

As others have said, it depends on the store.
However, before you sell your leos to any pet store, LOOK at it first. I have seen many pet stores in San Antonio that have very sickly and stressed leos (as well as other reptiles). You know that they just got new leos when you see healthy leos - know what I mean?
There is a pet store here that I frequent ALL the time.. I am Officially a "Regular"

I trust them with my animals because I'm in there often enough to see how they treat them on a daily basis. And, since I'm a regular, they trust me to have good animals, and they've bought several from me.
Not all pet stores are like this. Don't make the mistake of selling your leos to a pet store that won't or doesn't know how to take care of them. Check them out first.

Some of the best small privately owned shops buy exclusively local. Mine even has all locally hatched baby iguanas! I breed fancy dwarf hamsters for them (and get lots of mice for my tegus and monitors in exchange). They are already taking names (and screening homes!) for my baby leos. These people don't have a lot of reptiles, but all are locally bred. The only thing they get from jobbers are their fish. Even the birds are all locally hatched.
I realize not all pet stores are like that, but if you find one, they are like gold. I could get my crickets (several thousand a week)a bit cheaper by having them drop shipped, but I buy from them because I like the people and the concern they have for their animals.
Hope you can find a good place for your babies in a store like that.
