help with dumpy tree frog

Dkppunk Jul 29, 2004 06:04 PM

My friend recently bought a dumpy tree frog. When she bought it, it was in a tank with 6-9 varieties of tree frogs. She now has it in a very nice sized tank with plenty of water, light, and food, but it wont seem to eat on its own. She has been force feeding it for a while now because it is too thin, you can see its bones towards its backend. Is it possible that it is depressed because it is no longer around other tree frogs? We are going out now to get another, but some advice would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks!

I wouldn't force feed ever, it can cause even more stress. And don't get another yet, it may just make the other sick. I'd take it to a vet. And next time don't buy anything from a petstore that mixes different frogs. good luck

I agree with Amphibianfreak, don't buy a another frog just yet. I'd advise you to take the frog to a vet.

well..we got a new frog, and it has actually helped, the frog ate a cricket today, on its own and is looking a little healthier. my friend has also been giving it antibiotics (her mother is a vet and has the resources) this may have also helped.
