2 questions for a beginner

How many crickets (of course as a staple diet, I'll vary it occasionally and provide veggies) per day do they normally eat? I'm very interested in getting one within the next 2 or 3 months, so I was wondering, since the net is not giving me a lot of information on how much to feed them...

Also, which one would be least aggressive, female or male. I know it depends on their own personality, but which is generally more calm/open to being held or petted?

number of crix vary depending on diet, size and age. could be anywhere from a dozen a day to 100. If you figure on a good appetite and feeding mainly crix, I would estimate 50 a day over time.

I have never seen a difference in temperment between males and females. Males are more desireable as pets as they have fewer complications (especially when it comes to laying eggs)

BTW in 2-3 months it may be harder to find a BD as it will be the end of the season.

As Bennett said, the # of crickets can vary greatly. If you give smaller crickets, they may be able to eat 50, if they were larger they may only be able to eat 12 ??? You do have to be careful not to give crickets or anything else for that matter, that are too big. A rule of thumb is, nothing that is larger than the space between their eyes.

Now,,, I don't recommend the diet you described. (offering veggies occasionally) You should offer veggies daily. Now the crickets can be offered occasionally (unless you have a clutch of babies together), but always keep fresh veggies available.

As far as being able to find dragons in 2 months, that will not be a problem. There are plenty of late layers & you'll find them year round. Maybe not as many, but they will be there so don't worry.

Okay, well there is no well in hell I could afford 100 crickets a day! lol maybe...

I'll be sure to keep plenty of veggies available all the time. In my city, there's only like 2 babies at Petland, I was hoping to check them out when I go to Edmonton in a week/2/3, also checking for a good tank
