something is wrong with my baby...

domingoakasunday Jul 29, 2004 08:56 PM

she is only 4 months old (if that old). she has yet to eat without being force fed. she is only 50 grams. has a small spot on her neck that looks like something is stuck in her skin... it is hard like a pebble. it seems to itch her as she rubbs against her hide and other things in her cage. she has been doing that for 2 weeks though so I dont believe it is her trying to shed. if anyone has any ideas let me know... btw it isnt a bite as she has never been left alone with a mouse or any other animal...

it might be a tick ...can you tell if it is moving or not?

Hello,
My BP also has a small bumb on the back of her neck. The vet said she thought is was a piece of cartilage (internal). I would recommend you have her looked at, just to be safe. If you have access to a vet who is familiar with snakes. Good Luck.

...skin abscess (ie, from a tick bite most likely, prior to you receiving the snake)...apply Neosporin or Betadine ointment to hasten its resolution.

It appears there is a retained eye-cap...do NOT attempt removal.

Perhaps you need to re-adjust this snake's environment; if it steadfastly refuses food the snake isn't happy with something.

Assist-feeding is OK if done with as little trauma to the snake as possible, BUT it also must be done FREQUENTLY ENOUGH to make some gains in the snake's weight (about every 7 days with a 2 week-old fuzzy mouse).

Good luck!
