another pic of Pixel

bigcagereptiles Jul 29, 2004 10:49 PM

Another Pic of Pixel the ABW Tegu- I thought this pic be cool.
He is way out of his element - just for the pic though. It is always interesting to see him rip apart a rat or mouse yet be gentle enough to hang out on my lap and be dog tame later the same day.
He has had a lot of sun since he was a baby and doesn't freak out like some of my older Cyclura do once I get him outside.
I truly have seen the Jeckyl and Hyde behavior switch with my Cyclura going from inside to outside (this is only true when I aquired them over 2 years old - as babies most of the time you break them of that without even knowing it)- but not this guy.-- 100% mellow all the time - unless he is eating of course.

He has a ton of personality! - Happy 1 year old B Day to Pixel!!!

Beautiful Tegu, but I'd also like to see some photos of your Cyclura. I keep both Tegus and Cyclura also and couldn't imagine not having them around.

What a marvelous critter! And a great photo. What kind of temperment do they have? How big is yours?

4 Rhinos, 2 Cubans, and 2 lewisi hybrids. They range in age and size from a late October '03 hatch Rhino that weighs 400 grams to my oldest, a 6 year old female Rhino that weighs 16 pounds and is still growing. All of my adults are lap lizards and seem to crave attention. I use all of them as educational animals and my 2.5 year old Rhino male insists on sleeping on the bed at night, usually on the extra pillow.

Ahh, lizard love! They really are marvelous. So prehistoric looking. My husband drew the line at letting my 2' male red tegu sleep in the bed with us. The two red tegus and my rescue savannah are probably the only large lizards we have room for. The two daughters left home, but we still don't have enough space. Need a nice, heated blimp hanger!!
