1200 to 1800 grams in 30 days , normal?

jimfmcdonald Jul 29, 2004 11:52 PM

this 50% het pied female went from 1226 grams to 1835 grams in 30 days. is this just good eating habits or could she be gravid? I have had a male in with her a few times over the past month but I have not seen them locked up. and I only have one 100% het pied male and he is only 600 grams and has shown no interest in her . so is she not ready or could it be that he is still to small? thanks.

Why is it in pine shavings with a tiny water bowl?

how old is it?...how often are you feeding it?...and don't bother with the stupid people that have nothing better to do than come up with stupid comments to annoy you. I think it is a beautiful snake.

Neither, it means that you're an irresponsible snake owner. anyone who would feed their ball ONE HALF of their body weight in a month (post poop) should think twice about ownership of ANY pet. Just as stoopid as pine shavings and a water bowl big enough for a hatchling. It's always the snake that suffers. Too bad.

your a bigger ass then that Jeff guy ! first off I have been breeding snakes for 16 years now but this will be the first time I try to breed balls. I am just trying to get as much info as I can so I will be just as good at breeding balls as well as all the others though the years. some of you ass holes just cant wait to jump on the first guy that you think doesent know what he is doing. for one the cage that snake was in was just an extra that I put them in while cleaning there normal cage witch does have a lerger water bowl. not that it is such a issue, I have never seen any of mine or anyone elses in there water bowl. as for pine shavings, myself and several other people have been using pine for years with no problems. I was just asking about newspaper! as for feeding, some of the snakes I have bought were a bit thin and all I do is give them as much as they want for a change and they are much healthier and not obiece. ok, Im done with you ! I dont know why I even waste my time.

mykee Jul 31, 2004 03:21 PM

Obiece? So you're saying that with 16 years of snake experience under your belt, you STILL fed a ball ONE HALF of it's weight in food in 30 days! You're a disgrace.

who post for helpful info? The poster didn't come here to get degraded and be taged an asshole. Maybe he is over feeding her, or maybe she is gravid. He was just seeing what the more experienced thought. I'm no expert, but in my opinon you are over feeding, seems like a big jump. As far as the pine shavings, when I started keeping snakes 30yrs. ago, thats what everybody used. I too have never had any problems with pine. I will not use abything but pine and aspen. You can pick up ten different books and get ten different opinons. I'm just saying in thirty years I have never had any problems. You guys seem to disagree, so I quess that makes me an asshole too.

Sounds to me like she's over feeding... try feeding her a little less.. and see where the weight settles out... she'll probably lose some, but that just seems like it's too big of a jump in that span of time.

And ignore the A$$ posting previously. Don't let him get to you. The fields around here seem to be rife with such individuals unfortunately.

I'd say to definitely decrease the amount of food the snake is getting... sounds like just WAY too much of a weight gain in too short a time.
