My new set up

ChameleonWulf Jul 30, 2004 05:35 AM

My old set up was a 35 gal hex ( used to have orandas big ones)
with a screen top I made. Had a grape vine stump and various fake vines, small reptile hammock. Habba mist , Repti Glo 5.0 15 inch strip light , and a zoo med 50 watt basking lamp. Also had a ficus in it.

New set up is a 22 gal Reptarium set up tall with a bottom liner and another liner along the back ( top and sides are partially covered by the back liner) . Various fake vines, grape vine stump, and a varigated ficus. Habba mist , small glass jar with aerator , Repti Glo 5.0 strip light 15 inch, Zoo Med basking lamp 50 watts, small plastic cup for holding meal worms etc. Lights are on a timer.

Thinking of converting an old drawer into an outside enclosure for him (aj).

That looks cozy. I would suggest puting the haba mist at the top so that the mist falls from the top onto leaves.

I do have the hose going in thru the top (reluctantly put a small hole thru the screen) so it sprays on to the ficus. He seems to know what the spray bottle is for too lol . I'll poke that in when hes drinking and he'll wait for me to squirt more water on the leaf he's licking. Off topic question... is it normal for a jacksons to be really dark brown for awhile? I ask becuase the local petsmart got in a male jacksons and past 2 weeks I've known they've had it it has been dark brown but seems really dark now. Went and bought more crickets. Theres also a female in the same enclosure, first time I ever seen them selling a female too. I'm wondering if it's stressed, I told the gal it did'nt seem too happy.

Yep, sounds like major stress. If it is a young jax they tend to be browner when stressed. A mature adult will be very dark green with lighter green diamond patterns on the sides.
