she tends to swing around on her rope sometimes and always looks very surprised - it's pretty funny.

What are those caterpillers? What are they eating? I liked the morning stretch portion. That's super cute.

yeah, she's pretty photogenic

They are Automeris io caterpillars and they are on sassafras. I have reared 8 different species of Saturniidae (Giant Silk Moths) and I love them all but I have to say the variation among the io coloration is amazing. These are all "hatch mates" and so many colors! When they come out of their shells they all wait until the rest in the cluster hatch, then they feed and move together until their 4th instar often with the smallest encircled by the larger siblings There are others that are gregarious (cecropia for one) but not to this degree.
