Waxy Monky & White's?

caecilianman02 Jul 30, 2004 11:21 AM

Hi there:

I have known of some hobbyists who have mixed White's tree frogs and White-lipped tree frogs of the same size in the same vivarium. I know that many people find species mixing risky. I can understand why, but I have had great luck with it. I use isolation tanks when I am first introducing a new specimen, and take a number of other precautions.
I have recently noticed that the price for Waxy monkey tree frogs took a dramatic decline because everyone wants them and they are becoming more common. Because they appear similar in their size, diet and care requirements to White's and White-lipped tree frogs, do you think it would be safe for me to put one in with my White's?

No, don't waxys like it hot? Plus mixing is never a good idea.

Waxy Monkey Tree Frogs need a basking temperature of around 95-100*F, which would fry the White's. The White's like a more jungle type set up with some humidity, which would kill the waxy monkey very fast. Don't jsut get a frog because of the price, be ready for what the frog needs.
