How do I feed my baby chameleon

voidix Jul 30, 2004 01:40 PM

Well, I got my chameleon, and I have plenty of pinhead crickets to feed him, but I should I do it? The cage is fairly big, and he spends most of his time near the top. How do I make sure he is catching any of these crickets? Is there a better way to feed him besides letting the food loose in the cage? Thanks.

This is why I feel that its a better idea to get smaller enclosures for babies. I made a net out of those green reptile hamock things and zip tied it to a couple of branches. I have a cricket duster that I use to pour the crickets into this net. The crickets will crawl out and into the surrounding plants. My cham then hunts them don and eats them. You can also bowl feed too by using a plastic container fairly deep so the crix cant jump out but not too deep to the point that the cham cant get at them. Punch 2 holes on the side close to each other and either use a sandwich bag tie or plastic zip tie to fix the bowl to a sturdy vine or plant limb. Good luck.
