something's wrong with my newly hatched couperi...

they are all feeding on frozen thawed large pinks! In a typical year, a very small percentage of the babies I produce take to f/t rodents rather easily. In most cases, however, I resort to such things as offering 1 day old quail, frog/toad scented pinks, live frogs, live fish, anything to get that first meal. Not this time....guess we all luck out once in a while. Rob

Don't scare me like that! I'm very glad to hear that all is ok!

I know you'll keep records for different females as they produce young over the years. 2003 clutch all fed immediately after first shed on f/t pinks. That female skipped this year and I'm curious to see how her 2005 hatchlings feed. 2004 clutch from a different female has been mopre typical. Most started feeding when they got around to it on other snakes or cornsnake scented f/t pinks.

Steve,
Do you "rest" your females on alternate years or did she just fail to successfully breed this year?

It will be interesting to find out if the offspring of a particular female feed on rodents more readily than the offspring of another female.

Female Eastern which produced her first clutch in 2003 reetsed herself for 2004. She appeared to mate successfully a few times with a fertile male, swelled up, and eventually swelled down. I'm certainly hopeful for her for 2005.

Rob...of the 8 healthy babies I produced...all have fed on f/t (split nose) pinkies for their first meal, and they only hatched about 2 weeks ago!

This is truely a first for me. Usually, it's more like 10-20% !!
