OK my boa did something very strange today......

drasticplastic Jul 30, 2004 08:28 PM

I took my boa out today and did my normal routine with him. Every once in a while I like to touch his head to get him away from being head shy...I hate that in my ball python. Anyway, when I did it today he shook his head from side to side very very fast. The only way I can describe it is like when a dog does it. I pretty much know the answer would be....."well dummy, he obviously doesn't like it." I was just thinking that maybe someone had a similar experience.....I don't know.

Kidding! I have seen that once or twice before, I think it is like an involuntary nerve spazim or you tapped a nerve on his head and he was trying to shake it off?
But I have seen it before.
Don't know if its a medical condition or not if thats what you were really wondering.

Yeah, I seen that before. You shouldn't worry she was probably just trying to shake it off.Sometimes they think they got it caught on something. What I do to keep my snakes from being head shy is hold they're head and pet em like a dog very slowly, but with good pressure with my thumb, works everytime.Even with my BIG BLOODS.Good luck.
