I have an african side neck turtle thats about 7 inches long. Ive had him for about 6-8 months hes healthy and seems to be growing. Hes become tame enough to eat out of my hand and his favorite food is giant meal worms. Im pretty sure he his male because he has a concaved shell and long nails. I have him in a 49 gallon tank now. when i bought him he was in a smaller tank with two other turtles at the pet store. Ive been thinking of adding another turtle to the tank because he seems to always stare at his reflection in the glass. But I wonder if they would fight? what size it would have to be? or if it would have to be female?

Possibly.
But I will say this a 49 gallon is pretty small for a 7 inch turtle and would surely qualify as "way too small" for two turtles of that size.

hes in a 130 gal pond now..
