Yosemite find...

DeanAlessandrini Jul 30, 2004 09:59 PM

I posted last week that I was going to vacation in Yosemite...I was hoping to find a zonata or 2.

No luck there...but after hours of road cruising found this little gem of a rubber boa!

He was in the middle of the lane on the opposite side of the highway as me...soaking up the heat and just waiting to get squashed!

He was just as calm as can be...I released near the fnid site.

That's a great find, and a great photo.

The only wild rubber boa I've ever seen was in Yosemite, crossing the trail in front of me while hiking along the Merced River. It was awsome.

Yosemite Toads are rare in Yosmeite now. Are you sure they were Bufo canorus you saw, and not Bufo Boreas (Western Toad)?
