is it ok 2 hav a male and female in 1 cage and hav no intention of breeding them or is it just instinct that tehy wnat to breed

They WILL Breed / Attempt to breed. If you really don't plan on breeding you should house seperately. And only put them together if they are of breeding weight, and only for a few months. If the female starts to loose too much weight seperate immediately.
