Turtle Message ??

qtkitty Jun 22, 2003 11:43 PM

While i was letting Blaze soak today i came in to pick her up and she let me sit there and message her back legs and then her front legs .. then she let me pet her head with out running for the hills .. but when i stoped she went scooting around in her water like okay time to go .. when i took her out i put her in a feeding basket the same one i had her in when she first came here and put her towel in and her food .. she didint eat after several hours sooo i put her back in her cage .. but instead of bearing herself as fast as she could she looked around a little bit then dug a little bit then looked around then dug and looked around ... it was as if she wasnt sure if she wanted to look around or dig a hole.. finally she disapeared into the soil again ....

Could it be shes coming around ?

She never goes all the way into her shell any more and lets me look at her and touch her

Could the message have helped ? i thought that the gentle touching would show her that i wouldnt hurt her and let her relax a little bit * crosses my fingers*

I've found that turtles are very smart. They get to know you in their own time and way. My boxies don't retreat from me or close up in their shells . . . but all but one, the one we've had the longest, still hide from my husband and son. I'm the primary care giver and they seem to know that . . . but they are still shy with others. OUr newest one we've had almost a year and he's just now starting to relax . . . our oldest one never ever hid from any of us. She even chases the cats . . . and they run from her.

When my 3-toed, Plato, was a hatchling, one of my cats placed a curious paw inside Plato's enclosure. Plato came boiling out of his hide box, jacked himself up as far as his tiny little legs would go, and rushed at my cat!! I nearly choked laughing so hard. It worked, tho, my cat backed off.

* holds my ribs rolling in laughter *

Ohh the things they do do *lol* Pets are so goofy some times .. maybe its the fact that they make us laugh that is the reason they have been found to make us all live longer *G*

I have a 100 pound white male german shepherd and a 70 pound black and tan female german shepherd. We babysat two kittens that were just weened to solid food. They kept our dogs in complete mortal terror for the whole weekend. When the kittens figured out after an hour or so how to climb over the kid gate to the bathroom (where their "safe" spot was meant to be from the dogs, and where their food, etc. was) they promptly chased the dogs around whenever the pooches were brave enough to show their faces.

At one point I was napping on the couch and the two kittends climbed onto my belly to sleep. My male dog, who normally would sleep with me, sat quietly whimpering across the room... I'm not sure if he was jealous of his spot or terrified of what might happen to his daddy.

Quite hilarious that some tiny fluffballs the size of hamsters could terrorize dogs that could swallow them both whole together.

Laughs Sounds like Delilah and Sampson

Delilah is a small siamese ... she looks like a kitten but shes full grown .. she got sick and never grew all the way ..

and Sampson his shoulders are up to my mid thigh and im 5ft 9inches ( if you listen to my fiance im 5ft 11inches)

The kids and i were sitting on the bed talking and delilah started fussing and hissing and howling .. because sampson had his head laying on one side of the bed .. she ran over and whapped him a few times .. he backed off and looked all shocked .. then did his little its on half bark howl thing.. and started jumping around .. while all this is going on delilahs sitting on the edge of the bed like BRING IT ON ... *lol* and of course Sampson brought his nose a little to close and she slapped him silly again .. the dog started barking the cat was mewing ( she wasnt fluffed so she wasnt ticked off ) finally she jumped on Sampsons butt and he took off like crazy and delilah run off chasing him

*rme* and during all of this the girls and i were sitting there in shock and my fiance came in to see what was going on just as Sampson was running for it and almost got Knocked over .. which only added to our delirious laughing .. and we were rolling .. and my fiance was like what what whats going on

* snickers*
