Incubating eggs

rjward97 Jul 31, 2004 04:06 AM

I am expecting eggs in the coming weeks and have decided I want mostly females. I was planning on incubating the eggs in a rubbermaid box in a room where the daytime temp is 78-83F. Now the temp does drop at night, will that be bad for the eggs? Could I use heat tape and a thermostat to keep the temps up at night? Or is that uneccessary? Thanx.

You MUST use a thermostat unless your room stays right around 80-82 (you already said there is a night drop). Definitly use a thermostat or just get a commercial one (like the hovabator). You can also make some similiar to that our of styrofoam or an old fridge.

thanx. I already have the heat tape and thermostat set up, which is why I asked if I could use that. I will probably just get a hovabator at the next show.. make it easier.
