Last year I use to ship strictly USPS and was lucky as the worse thing that ever happened was that reptiles on occasion showed up a day late in more rural areas. Currently I use UPS and have an account. I keep thinking about the possibility of shipping US Post Office to US Post Office for pick up to offer the buyer a little (and big) savings. Being the usual issue with US Post Office is that once it gets back in the truck for delivery at the receiving parties destination, things run late, not to mention hot trucks and freezing cold trucks in the winter. I do ship for all weather conditions and have a UPS account but have been getting nailed with some heavy bills!! –
I’m hoping there is a way to bring it down a bit and save some money while insuring the animals safety as best I can. The first thing I need to establish is how close the receiving party lives to a US Post Office, from there I can follow up pretty easily. Anyway, does anyone have good or bad to say about shipping from USPS to USPS for customer pick up?
Thanks Steve
PS I have already heard about the nightmares of loosing animals via USPS but I am feeling that shipping from one office to another can lower the chances. I have used them about 60 or so times last year and it went smooth – of course the real attraction is the money saved to the customers. I am sure, as many know, it is never easy to sell a 60.00 lizard when shipping is 35.00 UPS – unless they can’t find it in their hometown.
