Question about gecko personality

skikid28 Jun 23, 2003 12:09 AM

This may seem like a really wierd or even dumb question but I was wondering what morphs tend or seem to have a very "outgoing" or"adventurous personality. The reason I ask is that I have a high-yellow female that is very shy and never shows her face except to eat. I am wanting to get a couple more (they are really addictive)and was wondering what morph/s have the most outgoing behavior. Thanks for answering a wierd question.

there is no sure thing. all leopards are different. within my collection, the most outgoing are the normals, and the patternlesses. the albinos, for me, are like the opposite. very shy and quiet. a high yellow or tangerine or SHTCT, or any line bred trait would qaulify as a normal when i say that.

Some of my freindliest. most ougoing leos are albinos. Also tame and docile. They seen to like to be held.

its soo weird, i always get weird geckos. like blizzards that are not aggressive one bit, and shy albinos. my albinos dont dislike being held, but they arnt like adventurus. they just sit in my hand.

I am a leo lover i currently own only 1 leo but who cares. ialso have a fire-bellied toad and a shiba inu which is a japanese dog.

I have heard that Blizzards tend to be more agressive than other leos but other than that, I have not seen much regarding the link between morph and personality. However, my normal is probably the most active leo I have ever seen in my life. Its based more on individual personality than morph. Just go to a show and start picking up or watching leos. When you find an adventurous, healthy leo, buy it, regardless of morph.

Depends really, the only thing i have heard about personality/morph is that blizzards tend to be a little aggressive, but good eaters. If you dont really care about the morph, just want a friendly leo, I'd go to a show, then you can handle and see which geckos are most calm and friendly. This may not be a fair test though, sometimes they might be a little nervous being at a show, but it doesnt really effect a gecko what morph it is. Good luck

if your going to go around handling a lot of leos, make sure you have that hand disinfectant soup. that way, you dont spread disease if you handle a sick one.

From what i have seen, having 4 leos, all similar morphs, that personality is more with the individual leo than with a morph. Although I bet you can breed for personality a little more than morph but every leo is different. What you could do is if your buying in person ask to examine the baby leos (assuming your getting a baby) and observe their behavoir to get an idea what their personality is like. If your buying online go with a reputable breeder that knows his/her animals and ask about their personalitys. Good luck! :-]
