given you can care for a tegu properly i reccomend any of the species. people tend to believe that the Argentine Red and Black/White Tegus are the easiest and most docile. that may be, but they are also the largest of the tegus. needing a much larger cage than some of the other tegu species. if you're choice is an Argentine Black/White then i HIGHLY reccomend AgamaInternational.com Bert is the smartest man i know with how he takes care of his animals not one is unhealthy i can guarantee you that. for Reds i guess look around. i wont reccomend RonStPierre just because of how i was treated.
As was said in the other post the Argentine Reds and black&whites are the lergest. Blues are and columbian black&whites are the smaller of the species. Your enclosure for them will need to be about 8' long,3' wide and about 3' tall for an adult. It does not matter what type you get some are simply more aggressive than others. All this means is you will have to spend more time handling and taming your tegu down. I have one of each type of tegu and they are all sweet. Good luck in finding the one for you. If you do buy one from a pet store make sure you look them over to make sure they are healthy first I would hate to see you invest in an animal that is not healthy. Other wise you can look in the classifieds here on kingsnake and there are several for sale posted there.
