sexual maturity?

justanuthertina Jul 31, 2004 04:02 PM

at what age is a leopard gecko sexually mature?

Also, are there any other signs to tell a male from a female other than classic sexing... by the pores and stuff? is a male bigger, or the female?

Most of the time weight is a bigger factor than age in sexual maturity for leos. They usually mature around thiry-five grams but its not safe to breed them until they are at least fourty five. For females its around a year or so. Males will normally mature sooner, at about nine months.

As far a sexual dimorphism(sp?) goes. Males will normally be longer, with thicker bodies and wider heads. But thats not a guarantee. One of my females is the same size (or bigger) than my biggest male.

I hope this answers your questions.
