Back on topic! Today's pyro

kingaz Jul 31, 2004 05:24 PM

I took ecosense's (Bob Bull) suggestion and went herping today. I found this pyro in one of my favorite locales. Check out the lateral white line. I have seen this on pyros from the Chiricahuas, but never from this mountain range. Kinda like a knoblochi. The thing bit me twice! I've never been bitten by a pyro, and have handled plenty.

Just a few feet away from the pyro, I bumped into this, an Arizona Ridge Nose Rattlesnake. There are only a few types of snakes that live in these canyons and they're all gorgeous. I love montane snakes!
