When can you tell a jackson's is a male?

boidsntegus Jul 31, 2004 07:07 PM

At about what age can you know for sure a jackson's is a male? I'll be getting one in about 1 month, and I only found one breeder that caught my eye. She has 4-7 month olds, and I wanna make sure I get a male. Many thanks.

It should be obvious by that time. The males should have horns or at least buds by then.

Thanks man. I thought though that sometimes the females can have horns also? Is this not true?

Yes, they can, but not often all 3. Most of the horned females I've seen had one on the snout. Very young hatchlings can sometimes have nubs, but at 4-7 months it should be obvious. One neat thing about jax...the females are basically the same nice bright colors as males and can be about the same size...just no horns.
