Interesting thing happened to this guy................

EricIvins Jul 31, 2004 08:04 PM

Has anyone had this happen to them? He basically shed and lost most of the Brown pigment he had. I took a look at the shed and it had pigment traces on it, but nothing out of the ordinary. I've taken over 300 pictures of this guy but none seem even close to the actual scale color. He's also shed once more and hasn't lost or gained any brown pigment. Very interesting animal none the less

Very interesting... maybe he'll lose more of it in future sheds? Or gain some back? Who knows?

He's a cutie, though !

I was kicking around ideas for a cause of this a while back with a poster who was overseas(don't remember the name), anyway, his snake shed, lost all the brown, almost turning into a black and white snake. I don't know if it's a disease or simply a color change. Disease was one idea we suggested, as a friend of mine lost a 10 foot retic to liver problems a week after it lost its colors. All I know for sure was that the ball was sill alive and slowly turning back a year later when we lost contact.
